This move is part of Marriott’s wider expansion plans in the Middle East and Africa region, where the company is aiming to have a total of 150 hotels by 2025. “The signing of these agreements is a testament to our commitment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and we are proud to be expanding our footprint in some of the major business cities,” said Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director for Marriott International Middle East and Africa.

The first hotel set to open under this agreement is the 400-room JW Marriott Hotel Jeddah, which is slated to launch in 2020. The property will be situated in close proximity to the city’s major shopping malls and business districts. The second hotel, scheduled to open its doors in 2022, will be the 450-room Marriott Dammam Hotel & Convention Centre. This will be followed by the 600-room Riyadh Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre in 2023.
